With plenty to offer, Eastbourne is one of the most popular seaside destinations in Sussex

Eastbourne guide

A popular seaside resort, the East Sussex town of Eastbourne has plenty to offer both residents and visitors. The four mile stretch of shingle beach lined with hotels, B&B's, restaurants and shops is the main attraction and the reason why Eastbourne is a big favourite for holidays. Eastbourne Pier is the great symbol of Eastbourne, built in 1865, and is filled with amusement arcades and places to eat and drink. Another famous Eastbourne landmark has to be Beachy Head, the highest chalk sea cliff in the UK complete with its famous lighthouse. Set at the foot of the South Downs, Beachy Head offer dramatic views across the Sussex Coast and out to sea. Eastbourne boasts some great shops, cafes and restaurants too and the newly opened Towner Gallery brings some of the finest in contemporary art to the Sussex seaside town.
