Situated alongside the River Rother in Robertsbridge, East Sussex, Bodiam Castle is one of Britain's most famous castles. Built in 1385, Bodiam Castle is the perfect example of a Medieval Castle, surrounded by a beautiful moat and Sussex countryside. The exterior is virtually complete whilst there remains enough of the interior to provide an insight into castle life. The spiral staircases and battlements offer exciting exploration and the views over the Rother Valley from the very top of the castle are stunning. The castle's original wooden portcullis in the gatehouse is an extremely rare example of its kind. There is plenty to do at Bodiam Castle, and the children's discovery challenges, seasonal trails and events such as the medieval jousts and falconry will ensure the little eons are kept amused. The Wharf Tea Room provides the perfect place for a light bite and refreshment, serving seasonal local food all cooked on site. Perfect for all ages, Bodiam Castle provides a great day out in East Sussex.
